I took this shot on the last morning of May in my secret world, it was wet and misty with the sun threatening to burst through the clouds, so the light was quite good and conditions favourable for woodland photography. The bluebells were still vibrant and would make a good element or foreground lead into the scene so the composition here was an easy choice to make. However, getting to the location was a different matter because I had to navigate crossing a fast-flowing, rock-strewn stream with a heavy camera bag and tripod, then scramble up a quite steep, wet bank to gain access to the grass-topped rocky knoll, whilst being constantly harassed by pesky midges! But it was worth it because as I suspected, the chaotically branched Sessile Oak I could see at the top of the knoll did work really well as the subject and the bluebells as foreground interest.
