The Leeds to Liverpool canal extension was constucted 2009 and was 1.4 miles in length. The canal link at Liverpool’s Pier Head extends the canal from its current terminus at Stanley Dock through to the Albert Dock south of the Pier Head. It takes the canal through the central docks and in front of the Three Graces at the Pier Head. This digitally enhanced photograph in creating an antique plate effect, tries to capture the spirit of Liverpool's 'Where Old meets New'
