This photograph captures the majesty of an Ash tree taking standing and straight despite taking the brunt of a snow storm in the North Wales hills.
Ash trees have been revered as being sacred throughout history and in mythology, Yggdrasil ‘The tree of life’ in Norse Mythology was an ash. In Celtic Mythology the Ash was one of a trio of trees believed to be magic. During the 19th century Irish Diaspora many Irish people brought Ash seeds with them to America not just because they were revered to be sacred but because of the medicinal properties of the bark, seeds and leaves. Even to a horse, common ash leaves act as a natural aspirin.
